New Moon Hike – Mt Kosciuszko

Best for stargazers & night photography, New Moon hike has a distance of 13 km and is a guided hike type. Hiking at Mt Kosciuszko takes you away from light pollution and brings you to incredible stargazing during a lunar cycle and new moon phase.

The New Moon Hike has limited spots available so we recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment!

Cascade trail  

Cascade trail is a popular mountain biking and walking trail. It will take you to a historic alpine hut.Enjoy the twists of the remote path through snow gum woodland and the beauty of Pilot Wilderness Area. Spring-blooming wildflowers herald the return of warmer months.

This versatile trail is part of the Australian Alps walking track, and is great for beginners and experts alike. Starting from Dead Horse Gap, on Alpine Way near Thredbo, it’s a 10km ride or walk one-way (20km return) to historic Cascade Hut, deep in the Pilot Wilderness Area.

A high point on the trail, Bob’s Ridge, offers a scenic lookout across the Murray River valley into Victoria, be sure to bring some binoculars.

Blue Lake Charlotte Pass

Starting from the end of Kosciuszko Road, this walk from Charlotte Pass follows through the signposted Main Range Track to the Blue Lake lookout. You will cross the famous Snowy River along the way on this walk. The Blue Lake lookout is located a short walk down sidetrack and provides stunning views of the lake. A series of information signs provide details on how this lake and other features in the area were formed.

 

Pipeline Path

Starting from the Valley Terminal, this 3km walk leads you past the Alpine Bobsled, down to Friday Drive, and across the Thredbo River. Follow the signposted from here to the Pipeline Path along the hillside. This track leads you to the picturesque Snowmakers Ponds for a picnic or a dip. You can choose to retrace your steps or follow the track along Friday Drive back to the start.
