Dear Friends of the Thredbo Ski Patrol,
With an early snowfall and solid cover across the mountain, it’s been a fantastic start to the ski season in Thredbo. Spirits are high, and the slopes have already welcomed eager skiers and boarders from near and far.
Our team at the Thredbo Ski Patrol has hit the ground running, following the successful completion of our annual May Seminar training weekend. This essential training ensures our volunteers are prepared for the full range of mountain safety scenarios, reinforcing our commitment to the health and safety of everyone on the hill.
We’re also excited to share that we’ve recently received five new AJKA toboggans, which will greatly enhance the safety and comfort of customer transport during on-mountain incidents. This investment is a direct result of ongoing community and sponsor support—thank you!
As we continue to grow, we warmly welcome anyone interested in learning more about joining the Thredbo Ski Patrol to visit us at the Merritts Patrol Room or reach out via email at training@thredboskipatrol.org.au. Whether you’re a passionate skier with first aid experience or just curious about what we do, we’d love to hear from you.
We’re also encouraging our community to get involved with NSW Ambulance’s GoodSAM app, a life-saving initiative that alerts nearby volunteers when someone is experiencing cardiac arrest. With over 9,000 cases in NSW each year, every minute counts—chances of survival drop by up to 10% for every minute without CPR. Anyone 18 or older who is willing and able to perform CPR can register as a GoodSAM responder. The app will notify up to three nearby volunteers and guide them to the patient—and any nearby defibrillators—so help can begin even before paramedics arrive.
