From the Lodge Managers, Melanie and Peter
Dear Members & Guests,
Welcome to our little slice of heaven which
is Boali lodge Thredbo located in the heart Australia’s snowy mountains.
Here you’ll find year round activities and a fantastic base from which
to explore Thredbo and the surrounds. Add to that fantastic gourmet meals from
a Swiss trained chef and then you know you’ve really got the ingredients
for the perfect holiday experience!
If you need any more reason to come down, here’s a run down month by month….
The walking season starts in November and the resort is so quiet you’ll almost feel as if you have Thredbo to yourself. You can walk the “Merritts nature track” and not see a soul until you reach Eagle’s nest for a well deserved Devonshire tea! Towards the end of November the cannonball downhill mountain-bike track opens and on the second weekend in November, the Snowy-ride is traditionally held. During Snowy-ride, 1000’s of bikers descend upon Thredbo to raise money for kids with cancer plus there’s a rock concert on for them (in the last few years it’s been the Angels that play).
December is a great time to bring the kids for school holidays. Kid’s club activities are running, Santa’s in the village and guided walks are available form now until the end of April. A guided walk to Kosci doesn’t cost much more then the price of your chairlift ticket and really enhances the experience. Peter, the resident chef also cooks up a storm at Boali with 7 course celebration Menus for Christmas & New Year which means you can give yourself and your family a break!
January & February sees the wildflowers blossoming. Step out into fields of silver snow daises that from a distance look like summer snow drifts! The Blues Festival takes place on the 2nd weekend in January but in February the pace in the resort slows down as the kids go back to school.
In March & April the weather starts to cool but it’s still a great time to come down for bushwalking, golf, bike riding, fishing & much more! The Easter break & school holidays are on so there’s free entertainment, Kid’s club and the traditional Easter egg hunt on the village green. There’s also a new March music festival being held –CMC rocks the snowys.
May is the month when sounds of Jazz filter
through the mountain air. Thredbo’s
Annual Jazz festival is held on the first weekend in May
June of course is what we’ve been waiting for the whole year! It’s
when winter finally kicks off. The Winter Season officially starts on the Queen’s
birthday long weekend and runs through until the end of September. If you can
get away spontaneously for a few days then June & September (shoulder season)
are the months to come as we are quieter and can often fit guests in at short
notice. July & August fall in our peak season.
Boali is located just a few meters away from the Kosciuszko express chair &
the mighty Supertrail – it’s some of the best skiing in Australia.
We’re open all year round so we hope to see you here!!
Wishing you a fantastic holiday in Thredbo,
Melanie & Peter
